The Cover of LIFT
Captivated by a chance meeting with a falconer’s peregrine as a child, the indelible memory leads the author to flying a peregrine falcon of her own and discovering that the journey is not as much about training the falcon as what it is the falcon has to teach her. Exploring themes of predator and prey, finding tribe, forgiveness and femininity, Lift asks universal questions through the unique perspective of a woman chasing her heart in the wake of a wayward falcon.
It’s almost here…and so is falconry season.

Does your publisher send review copies to bloggers?
I personally believe very strongly in sending galleys to bloggers and purchased some myself for that reason. Are you hinting, Chas? I have a few more copies left.
Congrats! One more book to add to my list…
Very cool Rebecca – I’ll be sure to get a copy. Congrats!
I need to get a copy of this book over sushi! Can’t wait to read it
Congratulations, Rebecca!
Congratulations! Looking forward to the book.
Cool! When’s your tour? Remember you have a place to stay here when you hit Tattered Cover
Rebecca, I read a review of this book on Cheryl’s Book Nook and it sounds great. My interest was sparked because of my brother. He was a falconer for the USAFA – and he later followed in their footsteps and became an f16 pilot. I was thinking this would be a wonderful gift for him, especially on his return to Iraq. He has to sit “active” for hours at a time and he always asks us to send him books that keep him motivated and uplifted. This should be perfect! Do you have a release date?
Thanks, everyone! Your support is so incredibly important to me.
Rachel,
The release date is officially Nov 1. However, it will be available much sooner. Probably on Amazon by the end of September. You can check my author page on Amazon to see when it pops up.

Thanks so much for your interest! Super cool that your brother flew falcons for the Air Force! And my heartfelt thanks for his service to our country. I’m out of galleys or I’d offer to send you one.
Best!
Rebecca
Rebecca,
This books sounds amazing! As an avid reader and birder, I have gone out on hawk migration observations just to see the beauty of these animals as they fly. To have such an intimate relationship with a falcon must be incredible and I would love to read about it! Will be on the lookout for it…. In the meantime, if you still have any of those extra galleys available I have a nice blog that would love to showcase it & review it for you!
Suzanne
Hey Rebecca,
Send a note to your pals when it’s available? I will Amazon it.
I’ll review it AND buy an Amazon copy!
Bodio, don’t you DARE buy a copy. You edited and blurbed. You GET a copy.
I have a box of books arriving to meet me in Oregon (hopefully!) for a book signing on Saturday. So I imagine the book will appear as available on Amazon soonish.
And look for a review in High Country News on Monday.
Rebecca, I could not be more happy for you. Looking forward to the read and having you sign a copy.
Getting ready to release the rehab bird and fly my peales.
Joe
Found out about your book by chance two days ago and pre-ordered it straight away. I have a pretty big library of falconry books (to say the least!) but find personal memoirs and responses to our passion most enthralling.
At the risk of alienating my countrymen, I must agree with Kent Carnie when he said “the Brits have nothing to teach us but history” since our falconry here in the UK can’t adapt as it has in the US. Hence American authors seem to be far better (to me) than our homegrown ones, perhaps because the sport is effctively new, exciting and adapting in ways it can’t here.
Eagerly looking forward to my copy’s arrival and I’d be happy to review for the Welsh Hawking Club journal should you wish me to.
All the best,
David.
